Description

It seems that we have not yet found a way to bring the digital future into our homes without sacrificing the very attributes of home itself. If home is supposed to mean comfort and security, then home technologies need a material change. The project “Ceramic Touch” explores the dissonance between homeliness and technology and offers a different approach than the established design language of technology related products. Unlike the usual sterility of black glass and metals, the porcelain monolith, through its almost sculptural quality, can easily become a natural part of individual interior design. Embedded in its white surface is a shallow depression. When this is touched, any digital interaction in the home can be controlled unobtrusively, such as lighting or media.
