Lucienne Roberts AGI, HonFISTD is founder of London studio LucienneRoberts+; co-founder of advocacy initiative GraphicDesign& and Professor in Communication Design at ABK, Stuttgart.
Her work has long explored definitions of ethical design.
LucienneRoberts+ specialises in exhibition and book design in physical and digital realms. A studio preoccupation is explaining complex ideas accessibly. Projects include the interpretation scheme for Wonderlab, an interactive children’s gallery at the National Railway Museum, UK; and the installation Perhaps it’s not you, it’s me. at A–Z Presents, Berlin.
GraphicDesign& publishes books and originates public-facing exhibitions foregrounding the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Commissioned by London’s Wellcome Collection, Can Graphic Design Save Your Life? focussed on health-related design and attracted over 100,000 visitors.
Lucienne was International Fellow at ArtCenter College of Art & Design in LA and is now contributing to the HfG Karlsruhe/UdK Berlin research project Critical Faculties: BiPoC+ FLINTA* an Kunstakademien, examining barriers to participation within German art schools.
