About Barbara Lersch

Barbara Lersch is a cultural manager focusing on social design, urban transformation and social development. Since 2024, she has been Chief Programme Officer of World Design Capital Frankfurt Rhine-Main 2026, where she is responsible for the programme under the motto ‘Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a better life’. Prior to this, she spent around ten years managing projects at the Hans Sauer Foundation, focusing on circular society, participatory urban development and knowledge transfer. Her interdisciplinary work combines cultural practice with strategic programme design. As a jury member and initiator, she brings design, research and the common good into a productive dialogue.

Support

Barbara Lersch will support German Design Graduates as a mentor in 2025.

Lersch was already a member of the jury in her previous position as a consultant at the Hans Sauer Foundation. In 2024, 2023 and 2022, she was part of the jury for the museum exhibition & awards. In 2021, Barbara Lersch was part of the jury for the Social Design Award and the Circular Pioneer Award.
In addition, Barbara Lersch, together with Tulga Beyerle, Nina Sieverding, Stephan Dornhofer and Dick Spierenburg, was a member of the 2020 jury that selected the exhibitor projects.
