Description

The ‘ Meeting Corner ‘ is a table and bench combination for public spaces. It creates a place to meet neighbours, play board games and cards, or have a meal together. Its V-shape allows people to sit at a distance of their choice. Wheelchairs, walkers and prams can access the open side. There is an extra seat on the extended side of the bench, so that a person can sit independently of the group and then slowly move closer.  The tabletop features a network of streets, symbolising the interconnectedness of the neighbourhood and its people. Three NFC chips link to games to get to know each other and information about the neighbourhood. The street network and the rings around the NFC chips are made from a sheet of brass embossed with Braille descriptions. The meeting corner breaks down social barriers and improves the quality of life in the city.
