The project explored how accessories can be designed so that they are perceived as alive and emotionally appealing. At its core is the design of charismatic bags that act as interactive companions, crossing the boundary between object and being. Through materiality, form and narrative elements, they develop a supra-functional presence that evokes emotional responses, enables relationships and influences their surroundings.
The work draws on interdisciplinary approaches from design, psychology and philosophy to investigate principles of animating objects and new strategies for sensual-emotional bonds. The aim is to analyse the role of design in attributing identity to objects and to open up new perspectives on human-object interactions.
