Auf halber Treppe
Gestaltung von Zwischenräumen urbaner Architektur für mehr Miteinander
Description
‘Auf halber Treppe’ addresses situations where people live close to one another but usually share little – except for the stairwell. The aim is to create design elements that foster neighbourhood communities in multi-family buildings. Three objects in the stairwell subtly create space for interaction, trust and encounters: a notice board facilitates internal communication within the building, a shared shed encourages residents to share items, and a door wreath with a coat rack function makes visible who lives behind each door. In this way, anonymous neighbours can become a supportive house community. The project takes fire safety and structural regulations into account and serves as an example of how design can address social issues such as loneliness, hyper-individualism and other consequences of urbanisation on a small scale, while contributing to greater togetherness and solidarity in urban living on a larger scale.
