Description

SHIFT arose from the observation of working spaces at the university of art. In these creative working spaces, work, conversations, research, and breaks take place simultaneously. Different requirements and working states exist side by side and continuously merge into one another. The boundaries between work and non-work are thus becoming increasingly blurred. Creative processes do not only arise in phases of high concentration, but just as much in open situations.

The project examines how light can react to this dynamic and how different ways of working in creative, shared workspaces can be supported.

The result is an openly designed work light for shared workplaces. It enables a flexible switch between direct and diffuse light and adapts to different activities. SHIFT understands light as a tool that supports transitions and accompanies creative work in shared spaces.
