Please Wait To Be Seated is a stool which is not based on generic body norms. In product design, limited and standardized body dimensions form the basis of almost all industrial manufacturing processes. In Please Wait To Be Seated, existing design methods are questioned and replaced by an inclusive and gender-sensitive design process. Using digital motion capture and 3D scanning, individual body shapes are analyzed and integrated in the design. Using the CNC tube bending process, the data obtained is implemented into a tangible product. Through the parametric and individual design of the stools backrests, users are protected from restrictions and risks that can usually be caused by the standardization of products.
