A Playful Learning Opportunity for Primary School Pupils to Strengthen Environmental Awareness

Everyone produces garbage and disposes it, but most of the time it is unfortunately done incorrectly or carelessly. That creates significant problems for us humans, as well as for flora and fauna. Plastic and residual waste are of particular interest. In addition to professional disposal, it is best to avoid producing environmentally harmful waste. Early education on this topic and an early strengthening of environmental awareness is very important. I created the board game „The Great Garbage Search. Play, Learn, Save“ during my bachelor thesis, which is intended to introduce children of primary school age to different types of waste, proper waste disposal and the negative consequences of waste for the environment in a playful way. This promotes environmental awareness long-term, in the sense of education for sustainable development.
