Description

The Maasdorf pig high-rise is a deserted monument to industrial livestock farming and stands at the center of this collaborative project. Visual staging systematically conceals what lies behind products: places of production that do not appear in any public image. The project makes these opaque spaces visible. Through visual ethnography, typological photography, and object inventorying, the mechanisms of invisibility are exposed. Staged photography reverses the circumstances. Humans instead of animals in confined spaces make control and alienation physically experiential. Together, both approaches confront viewers with a system that remains hidden in everyday life.
