Bachelor of Arts
Description
Autoaggression, also known as self-injury or self-harming behaviour, describes the deliberate harming of one’s own body and is a complex phenomenon that is often misunderstood in today’s society. This bachelor’s thesis aims to bring self-injury out of society’s shadows and to destigmatise it.
The main medium of the project is a film called un;spoken, which is aimed at non-affected individuals and offers deep insight into the emotional dimension of the topic by making the feelings and thoughts of affected people visible.
The print medium un;written consists of four leporellos and an accompanying storage box and is aimed directly at those affected. It creates a safe space in which they can learn to accept their actions and view them from a perspective free of shame. Abstract materiality and the handwriting of real affected individuals serve as the central design elements.
