Affection and closeness are basic human needs and a lack of these can trigger feelings of loneliness and shame. Especially in care situations, there may be a lack of social contacts and physical closeness. Dealing with this can be difficult for carers, caregiving relatives, and the person in need of care and can lead to distance and isolation. The “Cari” care set offers an opportunity to build a relationship beyond care and to promote closeness. The set consists of five individual parts, which are also suitable for people with different levels of mobility due to their shape and tangibility. The physical handling of the objects creates a safe space for touch and feelings. The joint grooming ritual that results from using the set can deepen bonds and make togetherness more pleasant. In addition, the repeated movements contribute to the independence of the people being cared for.
