About Nicolas König

As an architect, Nicolas König strives for a harmonious connection between our built environment and nature. In his mostly collaborative projects, he uses scientific, historical and sometimes fictional narratives to find the interfaces where ecological, cultural and technological environments spatially converge.
Nicolas studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and the ETH Zurich. His master’s thesis “The Fulfillment Paradox” (ETH 2023) – a theoretical excursion into the complex web of human desires, consumer culture and the relentless machinery of the logistics chain – was awarded the ETH Medal and nominated for the Swiss SIA Award and the British RIBA Silver Medal. He worked in various architectural offices, including Muck Petzet Architekten (Berlin) and OFFICE Kersten Geers David van Severen (Brussels). Nicolas currently works as an architect at Made In Sarl in Geneva. In 2023 he co-founded the Zurich based experimental studio inter-, a working group standing for the in-between and the amongst in the fields of architecture, research and art. Inter- examines architectural and design solutions on various scales that deal with an optimistic future and give priority to the use of renewable resources. Nicolas is German Design Award Newcomer 2024.
