Do we have to be able to read a body´s gender to be able to perceive its aesthetics?
The Bachelor thesis "Body Bilder" deals with the question whether and under which circumstances we can establish an aesthetics in our society that is gender-diverse, and what impacts current categories have on our perception of bodies. Using different photographic and cinematic approaches, the project visually challenges gender terms as social and individual constructs, unmasks evolutionary needs of categorizations and opens a great variety of new perspectives on the human body. Together with 14 people, five photographic and cinematic installations were created that form an exhibition influencing the perception and valuation of the own and the bodies surrounding the viewer.
