Description
avio – touch and go is a user interface concept for air traffic control tower workstations. It integrates essential functions into a unified system solution to make the planning and coordination of take-offs and landings more efficient and safer. Previously separate systems – sequencing, air situation display, ground situation display, weather, and cameras – are consolidated on a touchscreen. This is complemented by a stylus with tactile feedback, enabling intuitive control and direct linkage to the controllers’ mental models.
The system enhances situational awareness, reduces cognitive load, and facilitates multitasking under time pressure. By reducing redundant interactions and providing a clear visual structure, the overall workload is significantly lowered. The aim is to ease the workload of controllers in safety-critical environments without disrupting established procedures.
